The Wheel Size of the Rollator Matters

Thanks to their bigger wheels the Rollator Walker manage curbs, cobblestones, gravel and uneven ground with both greater ease and higher comfort, when compared to conventional rollators with 8"/20 cm small wheels.

Conventional Rollator = Boneshaker

Conventional rollators have brakes which work directly on the tire surface, which requires solid tires that are more or less rock-hard, otherwise the brakes will wear out the tires very quickly. These rock-hard solid tires offer nothing in the way of comfort when you are walking on cobblestones, gravel and uneven ground. Many rollators users are forced to plague themselves just to get to the supermarket, and the use of a rollator frequently causes severe pain in the hands, elbows and shoulders.

The Capacity of a Wheel

The maximum obstacle height that a wheel of a given size can climb when pushed, corresponds to 15% of the wheel's outer diameter. Conventional rollator usually have only 8"/20 cm small wheels that only manage 3 cm high obstacles (requires considerable force). In the right diagram you can see the maximum obstacle height that the wheel sizes 8", 12" and 14" can manage when being pushed.

A Rollator Wheel's Climbing Ability Compared to a conventional Rollator

Wheel Size A Wheel's climbing Ability in cm
14"/36cm Walker 14er 5.4
12"/31cm Walker 12er 4.6
8"/20 cm Rollator 3.0

12" & 14" Big Wheels as Standard

12" & 14" big wheels as standard The Walker 12er and Walker 14er all have 12"/31 cm and 14"/36 cm big front- and rear wheels as standard. In comparison with conventional rollators, thanks to its bigger wheels the Walkers with bigger wheels manages gravel, curbs, cobblestones, rocks, roots and wooden trails with both greater ease and higher comfort.

SuperSoft PU-Tires

The Walker 9er is equipped with SuperSoft PU-tires that offer you a softer ride and a high comfort level. As they do not cause vibration like hard solid rollator tires do, you are less prone to suffer pain and discomfort.
