Hello! How can we help you?

Do you have a curb assistant?

Walking outside is rarely a journey without obstacles. The obstacles can for instance be grass, pot-holes, roots, gravel, stone-paved streets, cobblestones, snow, or sand. But the hardest obstacles and most frequent might be curbs of different sizes.

How do you then overcome them all? If you have a rollator with smaller wheels, you have a much bigger problem climbing obstacles. Because the size of the wheels makes a huge difference. Then a low threshold in a doorway might be an obstacle too high to pass. The rollator comes to a full stop and you might risk falling over.

To overcome the thresholds or curbs, traditional rollators have the option to add a small curb assistant – tilting aid, which is a type lever mounted on the inside of one of the rear wheels. It is a device, which helps you climb obstacles, where you suppose to balance on one foot and with the other one place the foot by the rear wheel and stop the wheel from rolling while you ascend the front wheels over the curb. A balancing act that could be quite dangerous, since there is a risk of falling over.

We don't offer that solution to our products since we deem them too dangerous to use outdoors. Especially when our Walkers are better curb climbers since they have bigger wheels and the passes thresholds with ease.

If you like to pass a curb with the Walker that might be too high, yes, the walker comes to those too. But they need to be over 5–6 cm to cause a problem. Then we recommend walking all the way up to the obstacle and brake with both rear wheels while titling the walker backward until the front wheels are above the obstacle. Then loosen the brakes and roll forward while the Rollator tilts back with the wheels on the obstacle. Then continue to walk as you were before. That is safer than standing on one leg trying to engage the titling aid in a risky type of circus number.

Our Veloped rollators have the Trionic Climbing wheel, which climbs curbs up to 13 cm/5 inches with ease. So you can safely walk on your journey without coming to a full stop.

The people a Veloped have been patient, kind and thorough throughout the process of deciding which one to buy and then starting to use it. I cannot rate them highly enough! And the machine is excellent. No adverse comments at all; just what I wanted …

  • Heinrich Heiß, 72 years old…

I think my Veloped is excellent. I walk my dog for an hour every day, which used to cause me a lot of back pain after 20 minutes. Now I can walk without pain. I've also hiked 10 kilometres several times (with my dog). My Veloped is a real eye-catcher…

  • Field report after one year of use…

The advert and description in the brochure is 100% true. Nothing is exaggerated. Disadvantageous or not optimal are the tyres. The air escapes too fast. A severely handicapped person will then usually find it very difficult, because a petrol station …

  • The Veloped, my support in life…

I absolutely love it. It makes me dare get out for walks. I have balance difficulties, but the Veloped makes me not afraid of falling anymore. The fact that it's also good-looking doesn't make matters worse either.…

  • Great product…

This is my 2nd Trionic rollator. Bought my 1st in 7/2018, a 12er. Decided I needed to stand taller, as I’m 6’3”, and the larger wheels of the 14er makes it a bit taller, plus they take the outdoor bumps and obstacles a little bit better than the 12 …
